October is full of plans and proposals to enjoy Formentera beyond its beaches. The gentle weather is ideal for sports events and other outdoor activities, such as horse riding or kayaking along the coast. La Mola Market

Until 12th October, you have a date at the Pilar de La Mola every Wednesday and Sundays from 4.30pm to 10.30pm. The market stalls offer genuine crafts, lots of them inspired by the island.

Art in the old Town Council of Sant Francesc

During the summer, it’s practically impossible to enter this space and not find an interesting art exhibition. Until 7th October you may visit the photography exhibition “Obra Viva” by the Argentinian artist Fabiana Schulz who lives on the island. The exhibition hall is right next to Sant Francesc church, one of the must-sees in Formentera.

Food Weekend

Next 6th, 7th and 8th October will be the last days to enjoy this food event where 8 restaurants offer a special menu for €20. The restaurants taking part in this event are Caminito, Can Dani, Casablanca, Maricastaña, Chezz Gardi, Pinatar, Blue Bar and Carmen Restaurant by Blanco.

Beer Festival

On 21st October, the streets of El Pilar de la Mola will be home to the La Mola Oktoberfest, a unique event organized by the German inhabitants of Formentera. As in Munich, there will be no shortage of sausages, traditional German dances and beer on draught.

Events for the athletic

During the first half of October, Formentera hosts two sports events for the more energetic travellers: The 5th Formentera Triatlón (7th October) and the 21st Pujada a La Mola (12th October), a race up to the top of this massif, the only one on the Island. Late October, between 27th and 29th October, there are two mountain bike races, the second BBT Volta Cicloturista Formentera and the BTT La Mola that counts for the Balearic Islands BTT Challenge.

Horse riding and kayaking

Autumn is a great time to discover the coast of Formentera by kayak. With its 69 kilometres in total, we must bear in mind that some parts –such as La Mola cliffs– are only recommended for experts. You can get more information and hire your kayak outing at the Centro Náutico Formentera, located on La Savina harbour. If you’d rather visit the island on horseback, Rutas Es Boixets offers horse riding outings adjusted to the different levels or bespoke outings for more advanced riders.
